BioSonics Echosounders on the Rivers of Kamchatka

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Russian researcher is first to be featured in RawkStars of Science video series

Dr. Maksim (Max) Koval, of the Kamchatka Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (KamchatNIRO), specializes in the use of hydroacoustic (sonar) technology for fisheries research. In our first RawkStars of Science video, we describe some of Max's recent work on the rivers of the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. Max has invested in several BioSonics DT-X series echosounder systems and uses them in a variety of deployment scenarios to study migrating Pacific salmon. He is quite active in his research, extensively published and cited, and best of all...he regularly sends us amazing photos from his field work. Thank you Max, and please keep up the great work!
